Yoga is a great way to tone your body and relieve stress, and Washington, D.C., has a ton of yoga options to choose from.
But how do you know which yoga studio is going to be the best one for you? Here are three yoga studios that are popular and reputable in the city, and each offers their own unique take on the practice.
Local to the area, Yoga District currently has seven convenient locations in D.C. In many ways, they’re their neighborhood's staple yoga establishment, from Dupont Circle to Glover Park. One of the cool perks of being a member of District Yoga is that you have access to all the locations. So, if you work, play, and live in different parts of the city, you can always be assured that your yoga studio is nearby.
They offer a wide variety of class types, so you can attend the ones that most fit your needs. Also, Yoga District will often hold public events, free yoga classes outside, and retreats.

CorePower Yoga also has multiple locations in Washington, D.C., but takes a slightly less traditional approach to the practice. If yoga hasn’t really been your thing -- or you prefer something a little more active and rigorous -- this may be a great spot for you to try.
The mission of the studio is ...
“To show the world the incredible life-changing things that happen when you root an intensely physical workout in the mindfulness of yoga.”
Because you have to register for each class, classes tend to be on the smaller side and more customized to clients’ desires.
Another great aspect of CorePower is that they offer free beginner trials up to a full week, which allows you to test out a multitude of classes and the atmosphere.

Vida Fitness is actually an all-purpose gym in Washington, D.C., with six different locations, but they’re on this list because if you’re looking for a great yoga class on a budget, Vida is your best bet. Traditionally group classes at gyms aren’t the best, but Vida has proven to be different from the rest.
The gym vets and selects their instructors from the same pool of candidates as the local boutique studios do, which means that you can have some of the best instructors leading your classes. It’s almost a giant loophole in the yoga game, as with a monthly membership fee to Vida, which is much cheaper than most studios, you get access to unlimited classes. However, unlike a studio, you’re going to be with a bigger group of people and receive less personalized attention.
For more details on yoga classes at Vida, head to their
website. And if you need more reasons to join an all-purpose gym like Vida Fitness,
here are five more.
