A post shared by Loki the Wolfdog (@loki) on

Loki the Wolfdog (@loki) is a husky/arctic wolf/malamute mix who lives outside of Denver with his owner, Kelly Lund. Lund and Loki met in a blizzard in 2012 and have been best buds ever since. Making a firm commitment to not leaving the dog behind at home, Lund started taking Loki out with him on adventures at four months old, including backcountry snowboarding. Lund and Loki’s escapades are documented on their website and on Instagram, where they have a whopping two million followers.

Their mission: To inspire people to explore their world and make memories with their dogs. If that doesn’t get you right in the feels, we don’t know what will. Their adventures have taken them all over not only Colorado, but most of the country and are beautifully documented on Instagram.

Aspen

The next photogenic pup on our list is Aspen (@aspenthemountainpup), a loveable Golden Retriever exploring Colorado and sharing his adventures on Instagram. With 291K followers, Aspen lives a very active life of canoeing, camping, hiking, playing in the snow, and exploring his world.  He is photogenic and kind-spirited, showcasing the Colorado spirit of living as well as some colorful pictures of its natural beauty. This dog is making us want to get out and explore, his smile is infectious, and he looks right at home wherever his travels take him.

A post shared by Henry + Baloo 👋🏼 (@henrythecoloradodog) on

Henry and Baloo (@henrythecoloradodog) are pair of adventuring pets who have been kicking it around Colorado together for the past few years. Cynthia Bennett adopted Henry from a puppy rescue five years ago and began documenting their adventures. A few years later, Baloo joined the bunch and now the duo is basically inseparable. They make quite the impression as they cuddle outside, sniff the flowers, pose for pictures in the peaks, and keep their PawMom and PawDad busy with activities. This furry twosome has traveled across the country, posing for the most adorable cuddle pictures along the way.

It’s time for an adventure! What kitties are going with me today?

A post shared by Simon Yosh the Adventure Cat (@backpackingkitty) on

Simon Yosh (@thebackpackingkitty) was a rescue kitten taken in by his owner, who decided to take the little guy outside to calm him down. Hiking in the Boulder foothills did the trick and Simon has been going on hiking, rock climbing, and backpacking adventures ever since. Outfitted with a harness and leash, and often wearing a cute sweater to keep him warm from the mountain temps, Simon is now three years old and has amassed 278K followers on Instagram. That's no small number, after all, this is an account for a cat! Simon likes to swim, seeming right at home as he and Yosh kayak and frolic in Colorado’s mountain lakes and streams. This cool cat even took surfing lessons in Huntington Beach, California (yes, apparently, surf lessons for cats is a thing. Who knew?).

A post shared by ollie & stephen (@explorewithollie) on

Ollie (@explorewithollie) is a spirited wire-haired terrier mix who has captured the hearts of many here in Colorado, and for a great reason. This little guy has climbed 37 of Colorado’s 14ers, which is one impressive record! Ollie and his owner, Stephen Martin, have been best friends since 2012 when Martin adopted Ollie for some companionship after serving in the Army. The two are a great pair, and Martin’s pictures of Ollie are natural and fun, with very few props.

When you’re a mama’s boy, but still tough as fluff. 🦁

A post shared by Floyd The Lion 🦁 (@floydthelion) on

Floyd (@floydthelion) is a Persian cat who lives in Longmont and has the heart of a lion, complete with a gorgeous fluffy mane. Floyd was born with a sinus cavity and suffered a serious fall from 20 feet high young in life, but you could not tell it from his perky pictures on Instagram. Floyd has over 46K followers and is one entertaining cat. He goes on walks, hikes, and has a T-shirt line, an underwear line, phone cases and prints featuring his image, and much more. Floyd is doing quite well for himself, and was recently the “mane" attraction at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts presentation of Cats (but, of course!) and got to rub paws with the cast and crew.

In the world of Instagram anything is possible; kayaking cats, mountain summiting dogs, cats on the stage, and so much more. We just can’t get enough of these furry friends and are wondering why we don’t snap a few pics of that cute calico sleeping on the couch and see what happens.
