D.C. will soon be home to one of Hilton Hotels' "Tru" hotels as developer Kline Operations LLC has just acquired property on Fifth Street in Northwest.

The Washington, D.C., Board of Zoning Adjustment has approved an application for Hilton Hotels to construct a new 11-story, 65,125-square foot “Tru” hotel designed by Fillat+ Architecture on the 900 block of Fifth Street Northwest. A new hotel brand launched by Hilton in 2016, the Tru Hotels are unlike most other brands and feature amenities such as pool tables, work pods, hangout space, and craft beer. They are also low-cost, smaller than average, and generally located in more inexpensive areas. [gallery type="rectangular" ids="6876,6881"] D.C.’s first Hilton Tru hotel will have a penthouse and 153 rooms, and guests will be able to enjoy unique amenities such as private alcoves and free wireless printing from anywhere in the hotel.

The hotel rooms all have 55-inch T.V.’s, premium channel lineups, standing glass-door showers, and unique interior designs that are uncharacteristic of typical hotel rooms.
