Don't miss the annual Summer Movie Nights series in Adams Morgan!

Are you looking for an inexpensive family friendly or date night activity to do close to home this summer? Grab your friends, family, or date, along with a blanket and some snacks and head over to Adams Morgan for their 5th annual Summer Movie Nights series! For five nights in May and June, films will be screened at dark at the Marie Reed Recreation Center at 18th and California Streets, NW. The first two movie nights featured a collection of Pixar shorts (on May 15) and The Big Lebowski (on May 22), but there are still three movie nights to look forward to! Hairspray (2007) will be screened on May 29, Jackie (2016) will be screened on June 5, and the series will finish with Hidden Figures (2016) on June 12. Much like at drive-in movie theaters, the films will begin at dark, so start times will vary each week. However, be sure to arrive early because Insomnia Cookies will be giving out free cookies to the first 250 people to arrive each night. The Marie Reed Elementary School PTA will also be selling snacks and drinks, which will benefit the school's PTA. If you're looking to enjoy a full dinner with the film, you can visit one of the many nearby restaurants who will be offering "Movie Meals," which will be specially packaged to take to the movie. Among these participating restaurants are Amsterdam Falafelshop, Tryst, Pizza Mart, Diner DC, El Tamarindo, Arepa House, and Ventnor Sports Cafe. For details on their food deals, as well as other information, visit the movie night website. This great community event is sponsored by WETA and the city of Mill Creek. It is also made possible by Life of Riley, the Marie Reed Elementary School PTA, and local volunteers. So come take advantage of what D.C. has to offer, and do something fun, free, and unique in Adams Morgan! Have you been to a Summer Movie Night in Adams Morgan?
