If you’re ready to get out of the hustle and bustle (and stifling humidity) of the city, and experience something a little more rural, we’ve got just the activity for you.

Come out to the Loudoun County Fair for some good old-fashioned fun. Bring your significant other, friends, and family, too. But before we get started on what to actually do at the fair, here are some very important logistical details.

WHERE: Loudoun County Fairground | 17558 Dry Mill Road, Leesburg, VA 20175
WHEN:July 23–28, 2018 | 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
TICKETS: Tickets are $15 per person, or you can purchase a weekly pass for $40. There are discounts available for kids and senior citizens. Get your tickets here

Additional note: parking does cost $5, but once you pay one time, it’s good for the whole week.

Now on to the good stuff ... what you should actually do at the fair!

Participate in One of the Fair Dinners

There is a different theme for every day of the week, but all of them have to do with farm-fresh ingredients (as a warning or a delight -- depending on who you are -- meat is involved with every meal). Whether you’re into chicken, goat, swine, or just plain dairy, there’s a meal for you. Check out the schedule here

Catch a Performance

Again, every day features someone different, so it is important to check ahead of time to make sure you get to see who you want. But the options range from musical acts to magic shows. There are also specific shows that involve animals, so if that’s something you are interested in, make sure you buy tickets. Where else are you going to get that kind of experience?

Visit the Petting Zoo

While this is a wonderful activity for children, it is just as much fun for adults. You will be able to pet baby goats, adult goats, and surely a few other barn animals, too. There will also be live animal demonstrations from people that actually work with them on the farm.

Check Out the Miss Loudoun County Fair Pageant

The award ceremony will be held on Sunday before the fair officially starts, but it is worth heading to see the cuties participating. All participants are involved with farm work in some way and ages range from 8 to 19. Take a look at who's involved here

Pick Up Some Goodies to Take Home at Sykes Hall

This will be the spot where vendors will gather to sell everything from fresh milk to artisan crafts. Walk around and explore ... maybe even buy something to take home as a memento from your time at the fair!

Was that country enough for you? Sometimes it is nice to get away from it all and just enjoy some sunshine and barn animals.
