Jimmy Buffett, the musician best known for his hit "Margaritaville," has died. He was 76 years old.

“Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1st surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs," reads a statement from Buffett's official social media channels. "He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many."

Buffett has a new album, Equal Strain on All Parts, set to be released later this year.

The singer-songwriter, whose new album Equal Strain on All Parts was due to be released later this year, died with his family and friends around him, a statement posted on his social media and website on Saturday confirmed.
