She was 83 years old.

Music legend Tina Turner has died at the age of 83.

Turner died in her home in Switzerland after battling an illness. For several years, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame icon stayed out of the spotlight while battling various health issues, including a stroke in 2013, intestinal cancer in 2016, and a kidney transplant in 2017.

In a statement on her official social media accounts, longtime friend and collaborator Peter Lindbergh said, "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner ... Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music."
