"Light Up" — Moon Taxi
Moon Taxi is one of my favorite bands, so when I received a YouTube notification saying they had released a new single on Friday, I was super-excited.
Called “Light Up,” Moon Taxi’s latest release is the second single from their upcoming album. It’s a track that sounds as if it could fit with their previous works, as it is a blend of reggae, alternative, and jam-band material. Radio-friendly, it already seems like it will become a classic.
Moon Taxi always incorporates an island-vibe into their songs, so “Light Up” certainly sounds beachy. The beat is mid-tempo, with easy-going guitars setting the groove, a piano that peeks through every few beats, and an overall uplifting atmosphere backed by tremendous vocals.
Frontman Trevor Terndrup says that, although this song was written last year, its lyrics mirror what is going on in the world now. He claims there’s always a light on at the end of the tunnel and he hopes people are inspired by this new track.
