Dreams really do come true. Find the purrfect cat for your family – for free!

During the entire month of July, 21 Maryland shelters are waiving the adoption fees for cats and kittens as part of the third annual "Maryland 2,000: Saving Lives Across Maryland" event, which is organized by the Baltimore Animal Welfare Alliance. In order to make each new furry addition even more affordable, several local vets are offering free wellness examinations if you adopt one of the felines, too!

The Baltimore County Animal Services, Baltimore Humane Society, and Maryland SPCA are all members of the Baltimore Animal Welfare Alliance. Fun fact: since last year, more than 2,500 cats have been adopted.

There is no catch! Just head on down, fill out the adoption application, and walk out with the cat of your dreams!

In case you are skeptical about owning a cat, Nichole Miller with the Maryland SPCA might be able to change your mind:

“Cats make terrific companions,” stated Nichole Miller, director of operations at the Maryland SPCA. “Whether you’re looking for a lap cat or an active kitten, now is the perfect time to visit your local animal shelter and take advantage of the waived adoption fees. Felines of all ages, personalities and activity levels are just waiting for a chance to be part of a family.”

Besides, the shelters are currently filled with cats and kittens that need homes, so please go and rescue one!
