The wolves were moved when wildfires sparked nearby.
The W.O.L.F. Sanctuary in Bellvue, Colorado, is home to many rescue animals, including wolves; however, the safety that the sanctuary provides was threatened over the weekend as wildfires in the area started getting closer.
Thirty wolves from Colorado were relocated to The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keensburg. They're being housed in temporary habitats originally built for several big cats rescued in 2017 from Joe Exotic, of the Netflix's Tiger King—39 tigers and three black bear cubs were rescued from facilities run by Exotic.
Although the enclosures are smaller than the larger habitats the wolves are accustomed to at the W.O.L.F. Sanctuary, the animals are safe and comfortable. Plus, the smaller enclosers allow for staff members to monitor the animals closely for signs of stress, smoke inhalation, or other issues brought on by the move or the fires.
The wolves relocated from W.O.L.F. Sanctuary will stay at the facility in Keensburg until it's safe to return. Hopefully, this will be a short-term situation and they'll be able to be back in their home sanctuary soon.
Anyone who wants to help can donate to the W.O.L.F. Sanctuary or The Wild Animal Sanctuary, as they are always in need of help feeding and caring for the animals.
