Not sure where you can (and can't) wear a mask in Colorado? Here's a quick guide.

As the safer-at-home phase begins across the state, new restrictions are being issued every day. Several cities and counties in Colorado are demanding the usage of face masks in public in order to slow the spread of COVID-19.

A list of the new restrictions by city and county, as of Tuesday, May 5:

Aspen

Masks are required when entering and while inside a place of businesses or any public mode of transportation. Masks are also required in any indoor or outdoor place where people can't abide by the social distance guidelines of staying 6 feet or more apart. Failure to comply with this order is subject to a penalty of $50 for the first offense, $250 for the second offense, and a mandatory court appearance for following offenses. This order will be in place until May 27.

Boulder

All individuals must wear face-covering inside businesses that operate any public accommodation until further notice. The order applies to both employees and customers inside the business venues.

Boulder County

Beginning on May 9, anyone older than 12 years old must wear a face-covering in public anywhere in Boulder County where social distancing of 6 feet or more cannot be maintained.

Denver

Mayor Michael Hancock announced on April 30 that he expects to issue a mandate requiring Denver residents to wear face masks in public settings.

Denver International Airport

In following Mayor Hancock's public health order, Denver International Airport will require all visitors and passengers to wear face masks while at the airport. Currently, all employees are also required to wear a face covering. For visitors, the order will begin on Wednesday, May 6, and will last until further notice.

Fort Collins

Everyone is required to wear a mask in any enclosed areas, including retail and commercial businesses or on-site service provides; any place where the public is invited in or in which workers and volunteers from more than one household are present; any City of Fort Collins buildings or indoor City facility; any vehicle of public transportation (City Transport buses and bus shelters); or any other public indoor place where people present are unable to maintain safe social distancing of 6 or more feet apart.

Glenwood Springs

Mandated masks order issued through June 4. Masks are mandatory when entering and while inside a place or conveyance open to the public; any other public indoor or outdoor place where people are unable to maintain safe social distancing from others not of their own household.

Larimer County

Everyone in the rest of the county is required to wear cloth face coverings when entering public spaces, like retail stores, personal services, manufacturing shops, churches, and recreational facilities. There's no specified expiration date.

Lone Tree

Those 2 and older must wear a face covering over their nose and mouth while inside any indoor retail establishment. The Lone Tree Police Department will education and issue warning notices if necessary. This is in effect through May 26.

Routt County

Effective through the end of May, it requires individuals to wear masks in a public place like a business or area where other people are unable or unwilling to practice social distancing. Order is to be enforced by the Routt County Sheriff's Office and the Police Department of Steamboat Springs, Hayden and Oak Creek. Non-compliance may result in fines up to $5,000, jail time up to 18 months, or other citations.

Summit County

Individuals are required to wear masks that cover their mouths and noses whenever they are indoors in buildings open to the public and outdoors whenever there can't be a 6-feet separation between them. Failure to comply with the order is subject to a fine up to $5,000 and jail time for up to 18 months. Additionally, the county is giving out thousands of free face coverings and educational flyers at grocery stores to people who are not wearing any.

Superior

Effective May 4, with no expiration date established, all people must wear non-medical cloth face coverings when in local businesses. It's encouraged, but not required, for people outdoors in parks and on trails.

Wheat Ridge

Through May 30, individuals are required to wear a face-covering when entering critical businesses. The order relies heavily on the public's compliance and will enforce the order on a case-by-case basis.
