The suspect is thought to be fleeing the scene in a gold Chevy Equinox.

A suspect is now in custody, according to the Arvada Police Department. Detective David Snelling said they found the suspect's car after being tipped off of the stolen vehicle around 5 p.m. on Wednesday night. The suspect and car were found at an apartment complex in the 8200 block of Sheridan Boulevard. He was arrested without any incidents.

The off-duty detective with the Denver Police Department is said to be in fair condition by a doctor at Denver Health Medical Center, where he was taken following the shooting.

An armed robbery of an Arvada gas station Wednesday morning has turned into a metro-area-wide manhunt for the suspect. 

An off-duty officer with the Denver Police Department (DPD) was shot while attempting to intervene in the robbery at a Circle K near West 80th Avenue and Kipling Street. The incident happened a little before 9 a.m., and the officer was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The gold Chevy Equinox SUV that police are looking for was last seen headed south on Wadsworth Boulevard from 72nd Avenue, according to Arvada Police. The vehicle is missing a rear license plate and has body damage of some sort.

The suspect is described as a white man who was wearing a black ski mask and a tan hooded jacket at the time of the robbery.
