The highway has since been cleared, but police believe the group will continue in other areas.
On late Sunday, Aurora Police said that roughly 600–800 vehicles had intentionally blocked the shoulders of I-225 Southbound from Alameda to Colfax, "preventing police from accessing the area." Reports indicate that fireworks, weapons, and street racing ensued.
FINAL UPDATE: It is estimated 600-800 cars were involved. I-225 is clear of street racers for now. It is likely the group will continue engaging in street racing in various areas tonight to include the 33rd & Telluride area.
