This security camera footage sparks viral mystery. So, what is that thing??
A viral video hit the internet this week, sparking some very bizarre theories as people try to figure out what a woman caught on a security camera outside her home in La Junta in Otero County, a few hours south of Colorado Springs.
Vivian Gomez shared the video on Facebook June 6, posting the footage of what appears to be some sort of human-like creature “frolicking” in her driveway. Her CCTV security cameras captured the little visitor the night of Sunday, June 2. The post has been viewed 13 million times in the last week and shared by close to 166,000 viewers and counting. People are all very interested in figuring out what exactly it was that visited Gomez that night.

After watching the 10-second video, one can see the creature do a dance-like march as it walks down her driveway, away from her house, then it breaks into a little jig. The footage showed up on only one of Gomez’s three security cameras. As Gomez says in her Facebook post, “What the heck??”
The internet theories have gone everywhere from aliens and prankster kids to Dobby, the beloved house elf from Harry Potter, coming to visit Gomez. (No one has reported a missing house elf.)
Could it be a lost mountain troll, perhaps the legendary Chupacabra, or maybe even Gollum looking for his precious ring?
Gomez has no idea what the visitor was and really doesn’t think it was her nine-year-old son dancing in his underwear with pants on his head, as one viewer has suggested. She isn’t in the habit of letting him play outside in the middle of the night by himself.
Whatever or whoever the creature was, it ran off and disappeared into a field across the street from the house, leaving no trace other than the 10-second clip. No other neighbors have come forward with other footage, though the community is certainly talking about it and feeling the excitement of it all. Gomez is not sure she will ever solve the mystery, but you can count on everyone paying a little closer attention to their CCTV footage for a while. No matter what the little creature is, all eyes are on the lookout for a second appearance.
