In a move to incentivize residents, Governor Jared Polis recently announced that a new program has launched to award 5 vaccinated Coloradans (18 and older) $1 million each.

Called the Colorado Comeback Cash program, the first drawing is set to take place today, June 4, with a winner announced each week until July 7.

Watch the live announcement on the governor's Facebook page, and see who the first winner is:

"May the odds be ever in your favor," Polis said. "I look forward to congratulating five lucky Coloradans."

In order to be eligible to win, a person must:

  • Be a living resident of the State of Colorado
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Not be an administrator of the Colorado Immunization Information System, a Colorado Lottery employee who conducts the drawing, an auditor certifying the drawing, the Governor of the State of Colorado, the Lt. Governor of the State of Colorado, or the Senior Director of the Colorado Lottery
  • Have received at least your first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine if receiving the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or one dose if receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccines—information has been entered into the Colorado Immunization Information System (CIIS)
  • Have signed and submitted all required documentation and releases as part of the claims process by the required deadlines

Residents are only eligible to win once through the five drawings.

The state worked with Colorado Lottery to launch the sweepstakes. Here's how it works: random numbers will be assigned to residents so that the agency has no access to people's names and information and then will be notified if won. Nearly 90 percent of Coloradans gave their phone numbers during their vaccination registrations, so the drawing process is expected to go smoothly, officials said.

"I hope this exciting public health initiative encourages even more Coloradans to get vaccinated now, and for those who have already taken this important step, you're already eligible to win the big prize," the governor said. "This isn't just about the money, but about getting more Coloradans the protection they need from this deadly virus so we can put this pandemic behind us and power the Colorado comeback."
