The bar will be donating proceeds during Autism Awareness Month.

April is National Autism Awareness Month, and a local D.C. bar is doing its part to support people and families impacted by autism. During the entire month of April, Tap99 will donate 100% of the sales from every order of Matt's Mac and Cheese Bites to the organization Siblings of Autism. The local non-profit organization helps support siblings and family members of children with autism by providing respite programs, outreach, and scholarships.

According to the CDC, 1 in 44 children have been diagnosed as on the autism spectrum, making the developmental disorder a problem touching families in every community.

The cause is personal for the owner of Tap99, Jason Cherry, as his brother was diagnosed with autism at the age of 3 and he understands how it impacts family life. He founded Siblings of Autism to raise funds to help families just like his own.

Autism creates a strain mentally and financially for families, making it difficult to give siblings everything they need. The non-profit helps to arrange respite care in order to give siblings and parents a chance to rest and recharge, connect with others for support, and raise funds to provide siblings with money for camps and tuition.

Tap99 is a self-serve bar/restaurant where patrons can pour their own beer via a digital tap system. Guests sample dozens of drafts, ales, IPAs, and seltzers, one ounce at a time. Tap99 is located in Navy Yard, right across the street from Nationals Park. In addition to its large beverage orderings, the bar has a menu that includes brick oven pizza, wings, salads, and more.

Matt's Mac and Cheese bites will be available in the restaurant through the end of the month.
