Isak Heartstone will have a new home in Breckenridge this spring!

In late-February, we announced that the Breckenridge troll, aka Isak Heartstone, is officially coming back. However, where the wooden troll will be residing has been up in the air. Until now.

The town of Breckenridge held a committee earlier this week and decided on a new location. Isak will be located off of the Illinois Gulch trail, near the Stephen C. West Ice Arena. The troll will be placed in its new home in May.

Previously, the 15-foot-tall troll was on display along the Wellington Trail, but due to nearby residents concerns over safety and traffic, it was removed.

Town officials say that signs will be posted in the area that'll encourage visitors to leave no trace, stay on the trail, and follow proper trail etiquette and safety. Social media traffic will be monitored, according to the town, in order to "encourage education and responsible visitation." Read the town of Breckenridge's full report here.

"We are extremely excited to have reached an agreement on this process," said Councilwoman Wendy Wolfe. "Our committee has been working very hard, and we are confident in the outcome. We are looking forward to giving Isak a new home in Breckenridge."

Danish artist Thomas Dambo will return to relocate Isak in May. Also, if you're interested in helping Dambo rebuild Isak, sign up here. Volunteers must be able to do heavy-lifting and perform other labor-intensive tasks.
