Patrons 12 and older must have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

On Wednesday, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser said that indoor venues, including restaurants, bars, gyms, and among others, will be requiring patrons to have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. This applies to those 12 and older.

The enforcement of this new order will go into effect on January 15 at 6 a.m. Proof of a second dose will then be required beginning on February 15.

Acceptable forms of proof of vaccination in D.C. include a CDC-issued vaccination card, an immunization printout from the patient portal of a person’s vaccine or health care provider, or through a COVID-19 verification app like VaxYes or CLEAR.

Below is a list of the indoor venues where proof of vaccination will be required in D.C.:

  • Restaurants
  • Nightclubs
  • Taverns
  • Coffee shops
  • Food halls 
  • Concert, live entertainment, and sporting venues
  • Movie theatres
  • Bowling alleys
  • Gyms 
  • Fitness studios 
  • Any facilities used for group fitness classes
  • Recreation centers
  • Conferences
