The popular biscuit shop is adding a second Maryland location.
Rise Southern Biscuits and Righteous Chicken is opening a new store in Howard County. The North Carolina-based biscuit store is known for its fresh biscuits and donuts and, more recently, chicken. Rise's quick-serve, no-wait-staff concept is designed to keep costs down and quality high.
Rise's tasty biscuits are made with North Carolina-milled flour and pure butter (no shortening), in three varieties: butter, cheddar, and sweet potato. Specialty biscuit dishes include avocado toast (served open-faced with guacamole, tomato, fried egg, and Boom Boom sauce), fried green tomato (a panko-crusted tomato served with pimento cheese), and "sweet country blues" (a blueberry biscuit with a sausage patty).

Not into biscuits? No problem. Rise has a lineup of breakfast treats, including apple fritters, glazed donuts, and cinnamon biscuit pecan rolls. The menu also has a section featuring a Southern classic, biscuits and gravy. Enjoy the Southern specialty with chicken gravy, classic gravy, or veggie gravy. No breakfast is complete without coffee, so North Carolina favorite Counter Culture Coffee is available with free refills.
Earlier this year, Rise upped the ante by adding a new category to its menu, chicken. Available at breakfast and lunch, Rise's crispy chicken tenders are brined in buttermilk, then fried up and served as a sandwich or with dipping sauces. You can also go meatless with the Rise plant-based "chicken." Pair your chicken choice with cheddar tots or seasoned fries.
You can win a chance to attend a soft opening of Rise in Columbia by visiting the restaurant’s Instagram. The grand opening of Rise is on Saturday, April 27, 2019, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ten percent of all opening day sales will be donated to Gorman Crossing Elementary School. Rise is located at 8872 McGaw Road, across the street from Wegman's.
