Up until recently, the "Double Dipper" Bandit followed the same pattern.

The FBI is looking for a man dubbed the “Double Dipper” Bandit, who has committed six bank robberies in the Denver metro since December 2019.

Last week, the man robbed another bank; however, he chose a bank he had not visited before instead of returning to the location of his last robbery, as has been the pattern until now. The suspect likes to visit the same bank twice before moving on to another relocation. Most of the robberies have been about a month or two apart.

Timeline of the "Double Dipper” Bandit's bank robberies:

  1. December 2, 2019: Chase Bank at 5800 South Parker Road (Aurora)
  2. February 5, 2020: Chase Bank at 5800 South Parker Road (Aurora), for a second time
  3. May 6, 2020: Chase Bank at 3501 South Tower Road (Aurora)
  4. June 2, 2020: Chase Bank at 3501 South Tower Road (Aurora), for a second time
  5. July 2, 2020: KeyBank at 3607 South Tower Road (Aurora)
  6. August 12, 2020: KeyBank at 20290 East Smokey Hill Road (Centennial)

The man is a six-foot-tall, thin white man in his 30s or 40s, who wears a hat or hoodie, a facemask, and sunglasses. He was seen in last week’s robbery wearing tan pants, brown shoes, a fisherman or bucket style hat, a surgical facemask, and a button-down, pinstriped white shirt.

According to the FBI press release, during each robbery, the man entered the bank, approached the teller with a note, threatened that he had a weapon—which has yet to be shown—before he flees the bank once cash is in hand.

Bank robbery carries a 20-year prison sentence for every offense, and if a weapon is involved ,that punishment increases.

If anyone has information on the robberies or the suspect, they are asked to contact the FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force at 303-629-7171. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling CRIMESTOPPERS at 720-913-STOP (7867).

A $2,000 reward is being offered, and the FBI is asking everyone to be on the lookout for anyone matching the suspect's description and to be aware of anyone matching that description who has changed their spending habits recently or suddenly come into a large sum of unexplainable money.
