Big storms & tornado damage property, cut electricity for 160,000 Dallas-area residents.

There were huge storms last night in North Texas including at least one confirmed tornado that touched down just after 9 PM near the Dallas Love Field and headed east through Garland, Richardson, Rockwall, and Sachse.

Significant damage was done from Harry Hines and Walnut going east across Midway Road, Inwood, and Royal Lane and across Central Expressway (75) and Forest Lane.  Other nearby areas had significant damages as well.  Luckily, we have not heard of significant injuries due to this storm.

Significant damage was reported in Preston Hollow, in Northwest Dallas, including damage to the Northway Church and the Dallas Fire station #41 on Royal Lane (see pictures below).   Numerous trees were damaged and power was interrupted for over 100,000 Texans and businesses.  Crews are out now working to restore power and please check with your power company as to when service will be restored.  The National Weather Service will be doing further evaluations later today.

Dallas ISD said that a number of schools will be closed today due to all of the storm's damage.  Jefferson High School had significant damage.  Please check with your individual schools to check on any closures after Monday.
