March 2020 will see a new tenant in the old Dean and DeLuca building in Georgetown: Artists and Fleas, the New York shopping experience that highlights local products.

The concept is simple: local vendors selling handmade goods and regionally-sourced products. The parent company, Artists and Fleas, has locations in New York and the Venice area in California. Think of it as an Instagram-worthy flea market with all sorts of artisanal goodies.

According to their website, they'll be coming to D.C. in spring 2020 with a projected opening in March. Their new home is located at 3276 M Street NW, so you'll be right in the thick of things along the Georgetown main drag.

Resident vendors will occupy established locations, and additional sellers can apply for pop-up style tables to display their wares. Have you been to the weekend flea at Eastern Market? It will be kind of like that, but indoors.

DJs will be on hand to keep everyone in a mood to shop on weekends, so this really seems like it will be a place to see and be seen. Let's be honest, is there any better way to spend a lazy weekend than listening to music as you browse through vintage records and books?

All in all, the Artists and Fleas concept is a great one:

...a collective retail experience committed to community, discovery and delight in shopping – featuring art, design, fashion and vintage from 150+ independent merchants. At Artists & Fleas, independent artisan businesses gain access to brick and mortar retail space and shoppers discover emerging talent.

What's not to love about that?
