Mother Nature dumped a whole lot of snow on much of the DMV this week, much to everyone's surprise.
Forget the handful of inches that were being estimated on Sunday; towns and counties were reporting up to and over a foot of snow by the time it was all over. The event was quickly dubbed "Snomicron" and Twitter went wild.
It started off with pretty snowfall total shots, with everyone pulling out their rulers and tape measures.
Finally tally, a little over 7 inches in Petworth! #Snomicron @capitalweather pic.twitter.com/x3NAdOUV5T

Videos of white-out conditions followed, then things quickly went downhill once traffic started being affected.

My commute yesterday morning as people were getting stuck. It took three hours to go 17 miles from Stafford, VA to Fredericksburg, VA #Snomicron #Snowmicron pic.twitter.com/qey9ur4rfE

No SB headlights on I-95 now. Either all the SB cars were let through & choke point moved, or they all ran out of gas. pic.twitter.com/WPjGsKZp5h
