Soon you will be able to live in a community designed in the spirit of the "happiest place on earth!"
If you’ve ever visited Disneyland and wished you could live there, your wish may be coming true. The Disney company has announced the creation of a series of master-planned home communities, with the first one slated for southern California.
The community will include condos, estate, and single-family homes and will be centered around a crystal blue lagoon. Cotino, the first storyliving community by Disney, will be located in Rancho Mirage, California, close to the area where Walt Disney once owned a home. The community will also have a hotel, shopping, dining, and recreational activities designed by the Imagineers at Disney.

Cotino will be the first of its kind for Disney, something the company hopes will expand the brand past theme parks and animated movies.

"As we prepare to enter our second century, we are developing new and exciting ways to bring the magic of Disney to people wherever they are, expanding storytelling to storyliving. We can't wait to welcome residents to these beautiful and unique Disney communities where they can live their lives to the fullest.”
Pricing for the homes has not been released, but given the cost of Disney’s timeshares memberships, it won’t be cheap. Residents will also have the option of joining the beach club where they can enjoy a man-made beach and participate in a variety of water sports.
Cotino will also devote a section of the development for 55-and-over residents. Arizona-based DMB Development will be the lead on the project. The successful developer is responsible for popular communities on the west coast including Ladera Ranch in Orange County.
