Hate your driver's license photo? Check this one out!
We all have that one friend with the most hilarious DMV photo, but I’m willing to bet this one takes the cake.
Tennessee resident Jade Dodd tried to renew her driver's license online, but what she got instead was an extremely funny story. When Dodd received her license in the mail, she noticed that the picture on her ID was not her. Instead, it was a photo of an empty chair.
After noticing the error, Dodd called the DMV to explain to the representative that she was not a chair, or a ghost.
“The lady at the DMV did not really believe me when I was like ‘hey, I need my license fixed.” Dodd said. “Then, she looked it up in the system and goes, ‘Oh, I need my manager for this.’”
According to the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, the wrong image was captured and saved to Dodd’s DMV profile.
“When the customer recently renewed her drivers license online, she received an image of a chair because that was the last picture taken on file,” said the organization’s Director of Communications, Wes Moster. “When the Department was made aware of her situation, we immediately made things right with the customer and provided her with a license with her actual photo and have addressed this situation internally.”
The department also reported that this was the first time anyone has ever received a photo of an empty chair on their driver's license.
The hilarious mixup was a good way to provide some laughs during these uncertain times. Dodd posted the photo on her Facebook page and said that strangers have been sending her memes about the entire incident.
"My boss thinks it's funnier than anyone," said Dodd. "I was at work Friday and he pointed to a chair outside of his office door and was like, 'I thought this was you, I waved at it this morning' and I was like 'thanks.'"
