Local craft beer brewery Flying Dog of Frederick has become one of the best-selling craft beers in the country, according to the Brewers Association.

The Brewers Association has just released its top 50 list of brewing companies in the nation and Flying Dog Brewery of Frederick came in at No. 28, making it the only Maryland craft brewery on the list. Yuengling (PA) took the top spot as the best-selling craft beer in the country, and is followed by Boston Beer (MA), Sierra Nevada (CA), New Belgium Brewing Co. (CO), and Duvel Moortgat (CA). Despite the mid-Atlantic's great number of craft breweries and craft beers produced in the entire country, Flying Dog's ranking is indicative of the brand achieving market and commercial recognition, as well as the title of being the best local craft beer in all of D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.
Flying Dog’s success gives the more than 100 new brewing companies hope. Plus, some politicians in Maryland are working to ease restrictions on brewers in the state, which would facilitate larger sales volumes for the breweries. Flying Dog's main brew facility is an excellent outdoor concert venue and place to visit. Trust me, I've attended a show there and even tried Flying Dog's brews. Can't recommend it enough!
