The Farmer's Almanac released their summer weather report and predict that the DMV area will experience a hot and humid summer.Hate the quintessential hot and humid summer in the DMV area? Well, the Farmer's Almanac has bad news for you. They predict we will experience a hotter and sweatier summer than usual. So get ready to blast your air conditioning and find the nearest pool! The Farmers' Almanac has been predicting the weather since 1818 and has changed their methodology little since then. The Farmers' Almanac does not use computer satellite tracking equipment but rather relies on a mathematical and astronomical formula. According to their website,
Most of the country will experience a hotter than normal summer, according to the Almanac, with the middle and western areas of the country having the hottest temperatures. Meanwhile, they predict people in the Northwest will be the only ones to see a cooler summer. Washington, D.C., and Maryland are expected to experience a hot, humid and wet summer while Virginia will be "hazy, hot and humid." "The formula takes things like sunspot activity, tidal action of the moon, position of the planets, and a variety of other factors into consideration."
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released a similar prediction last week, saying there will be hotter-than-average temperatures with extra rainfall. According to NOAA, the Southwest has the highest percentage chance of having above-average temperatures. The DMV area has a 40-50 percent chance of having above-average temperatures.
