Are you a ticketholder for an event that's been postponed or canceled?

The small dim light at the end of the COVID-19 tunnel might be brightening just a bit, but concerts and other events continue to get pushed back, if not canceled outright. And while a vast majority of tickets for canceled events are being refunded, the situation for postponed events seems to be only getting murkier.

Ticketmaster is automatically refunding tickets for concerts or events that have been canceled. So if your favorite band has canceled their spring tour dates, you should be in the clear for getting your money back. It is important to note that Ticketmaster (the ticket-selling service) and Live Nation (the concert-promoting entity) are the same company.  So even if you didn’t buy tickets through Ticketmaster, that monster ticket seller is still involved if your event is advertised as something like “Presented by Live Nation.”

The uncertainty lies in concerts that have been postponed or delayed, as many people who have gotten tickets to such concerts find themselves in refund limbo. For example, let’s say you had tickets to see Luke Bryan in Maryland on Saturday, June 20, and the event has now been rescheduled for Sunday, August 30. If you bought your tickets via Ticketmaster, they will not be much help in terms of getting a refund. However, if you reach out to the venue, Merriweather Post in Maryland, they will tell you that they are evaluating refunds for such dates and will have a more concrete answer closer to the original date.

Basically, they're saying there's a chance.

While this isn’t the best possible answer for concertgoers, it does show the best way to get refund information on your rescheduled event is to reach out to the venue itself.

Have you missed out on any concerts? Were you able to get a refund? Tell us how in the comments!
