Married actors Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson contracted the coronavirus while traveling in Australia.
Actor Tom Hanks revealed in an Instagram post on Wednesday that he and his wife Rita Wilson have tested positive for coronavirus.
The text of his post reads:
"Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.
Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?
We’ll keep the world posted and updated.
Take care of yourselves!
Hanx!"
The couple was traveling in Australia as part of pre-production for Baz Luhrmann’s yet-untitled Warner Bros. film about Elvis Presley.
I don't know about you, but with all the panic about coronavirus right now, I find Hanks' post (and specifically his description of the symptoms) refreshing. In typical Hanks fashion, there's no perpetuation of fear—just a matter-of-fact commitment to following protocols and lying low for awhile. All any of us can do is take life one day at a time.
We wish Hanks and Wilson a smooth and speedy recovery!
