Luckily, he was found unharmed.

On Saturday afternoon, a 9-year-old boy accidentally climbed on the luggage conveyor belt at Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport. The boy was later found safe. Thank goodness!

The young boy was traveling with his parents and others in a group of 20 via the Delta Airline when he decided to have an adventurous joyride in the luggage screening area. According to the Metropolitan Airports Commission, the incident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. near the ticket counter. A Delta personnel immediately shut down the conveyor belt but was unable to stop the child from entering the sorting area.

Once inside, the boy rode onto another operational belt and reached the checked-bag screening area. However, the airport police successfully handed him over to his family within a few minutes.

Minnesota Public Radio later showed the video obtained from the security footage of the airport:

Airport spokesperson Pat Hogan said to the media that no one noticed the missing child initially. "There was a lot of confusion because there were so many people in the group," he said. "They were all checking their bags and putting their own bags on the conveyors, so it took a second for them to realize he was missing—but as soon as they did people sprang into action and the police were able to find him quickly."

The matter is under investigation, and Minnesota airport reported they would work closely with Delta Airlines in the future to prohibit the occurrence of such incidents.

A similar incident occurred in July 2019, when a 2-year-old found his way into a baggage conveyor belt and fractured his right arm in the incident.
