Williamsburg, Virginia, faces Pueblo, Colorado, for the coveted title of Best Library in the U.S.! Championship-round voting will last through Friday, March 2, at 11:59 p.m.

Thanks to your faithful voting, the incredible Williamsburg Regional Library is finally getting the kudos and attention it deserves! Starting in January with 116 library nominations from around the country, the bracket-style ELGL Leslie B. Knope competition has cut its pool in half each week, until only two libraries remain: the Pueblo, CO, public library -- and Williamburg's. There are two ways to show your support for Williamsburg: Vote online until Friday, March 2, at 11:59 p.m., and/or post a selfie with the library building's exterior in the background, on social media (Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram) using #ELGLKnope. Five percent of the national championship vote total will come from the selfies posted -- and with as close as the margins have been each week, it could mean the difference between winning and losing!
In last week's final four matchup, Williamsburg defeated Baytown, TX, with 239 votes (a margin of 2.1 percent), while Pueblo narrowly defeated Lawrence, KS, with 158 votes (a 1.52 percent margin). So why is Williamsburg's library so great? Well, the reasons are many -- so many that it's difficult to choose just one reason here. Read all the comments from Williamsburg's library patrons here! Named after the lovable Leslie Knope character in the hit NBC sit-com “Parks and Rec,” the Leslie Barbara Knope Award is presented by the Engaging Local Government Leaders (ELGL) organization. Last year, the award honored the best city hall, but this year they’ve turned their attention to best public libraries. Have you voted? Have you personally experienced the magic of Williamburg's library? Tell us why you love your local library in the comments below!
