With only 500 made, this exclusive Subaru offers much more than a fancy paint job.
Back in November, Subaru gave us a first look at the Series.White during the Los Angeles Auto Show. This limited special-edition will be offered in two different vehicle options: the WRX and WRX STI. But is it really worth the money? Let's take a closer look and validate that $42,695 price tag.
Working front to back, this vehicle is loaded with unique options, starting with the ceramic white paint job, underlined nicely by black emblems and side-view mirrors. The vehicle's body lines are enticing with an aggressive front bumper that features two fully functional air intake vents on both the driver and passenger side.
Heading up onto the hood, you'll see a fully operational hood scoop which has become a staple for all STIs. Along the side, the Series.White features 19-inch lightweight forged BBS matte bronze wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, which keep a fierce grip on the road, adding to safety, stability, and performance. The vehicle also comes with sport-tuned Bilstein suspension, specifically designed for the STI, further adding to the drivability.
At the rear of the vehicle, you'll notice the large rear wing, another staple of all STIs. This rear wing is actually fully functional and begins producing downforce at 80 MPH. The rear diffuser and quad exhaust cap off the vehicle nicely for a well-rounded appearance.
Looking to the inside, the interior combines luxury and racing with 8-way adjustable Recaro seats and Alcantara leather along the doors and armrest. The leather is contrasted nicely with red stitching, which is a subtle tribute to Subaru's cherry blossom trees in their home country of Japan.
Mechanically, you'll see the STI shifter knob and drive mode select for Sport, Sport Sharp, and Intelligent. The interior is polished off nicely with a rally-inspired square bottomed steering wheel featuring the coveted STI logo.
All in all, this vehicle is yet another fine example of Subaru's capability to take their racing DNA and inject it into the consumer market. The Series.White is a piece of that uniqueness offering subtle niceties that aren't offered on any other STI.
