Two-hour deliveries may very well become reality for Denver's Amazon shoppers -- and sooner rather than later.
The $130 million Amazon order fulfillment center being built in Aurora will be the first of its kind in Colorado and is slated to open in late summer, according to Paul Pace, Amazon's regional director of operations. Bringing 1,000 full-time jobs to the area, the 1,000,000 square-foot center will hold any and every item that can be purchased from Amazon.com. Its close proximity to the city (at Prologis Park 70, off of Smith Rd. and Piccadilly) may allow shoppers to receive their deliveries on the same day as the order, possibly within hours.
The warehouse will open in plenty of time for holiday shopping and is expected to make a positive impact on the Aurora economy.
