Life just got infinitely easier. For just an extra $14.99 each month, Amazon Prime members in the Denver metro area can now experience the convenience of same-day grocery delivery, right to their door.

Joining other local grocery outlets (like King Soopers and Safeway-Albertsons) in an effort to compete on the grocery delivery front, Amazon Fresh's service will offer same-day delivery of fresh fruits and vegetables, meat and seafood, dry goods, dairy items, and beauty products, among other necessities. But get this: through their "local merchants" tab, you can also order a dozen doughnuts from Voodoo Doughnut (a Denver favorite) or a pound of sirloin steak from local butcher shop Wheat Ridge Poultry & Meats. Other local merchants participating in the service include Western Daughters, Pacific Ocean Marketplace, St. Killian's Cheese Shop, HiRise Bakery, and Vert Kitchen.
Convenience always comes at a price, however. Amazon Fresh is only available to Prime members, who already pay a membership fee of $10.99 per month. The added grocery delivery service will be an extra $14.99 per month on top of that. Grocery orders will also have to total more than $40 to qualify for delivery without any added fees. In addition, while some grocery item prices are comparable to those in the average supermarket, others seem to run a little more expensive. A one-gallon jug of two-percent reduced fat milk, for instance, costs about $4.29, roughly $2 more than you'd pay for a jug of milk at your brick-and-mortar King Soopers down the street. Budget-conscious customers will need to do their own price comparisons on the common items they tend to purchase. grocery delivery All the same, it's pretty crazy that through a few simple clicks on your computer or smartphone, you could have tonight's dinner ingredients (or even a prepared ready-to-go meal!) delivered straight to your front door. Will you be utilizing the new Amazon Fresh delivery service? What do you think about it? We would love to hear your comments!

Ready for same-day delivery on all your other Amazon orders? The Amazon Fulfillment Center opening in Aurora later this summer should make that dream a reality!
