Two family-owned businesses have partnered up to create a milkshake with a local flavor.

Goetze, a caramel candy maker based in Baltimore, has partnered with convenience store chain Sheetz on a series of caramel-flavored milkshakes.

The new milkshakes are flavored with Cow Tales, a caramel straw candy filled with vanilla creme that's popular with candy lovers around the country. Two milkshake flavors, vanilla and strawberry, are available in stores now and new flavors will be added with the seasons.

For a limited time, customers will get a free mini Cow Tale with the purchase of a milkshake.

Introduced in 1984, Cow Tales are based on the company’s original bite-size caramel cream candy. Over the years, Goetze has introduced new flavors like Oreo, caramel brownie, strawberry smoothie, and caramel apple. Just like Sheetz, Goetze is a multi-generation, family-run business that has a long history in Baltimore. The joining of two family-owned companies is a tribute to the generations of customers in the mid-Atlantic that have enjoyed both of the brands.

"Our Caramel and Cream milkshake will feature the savory and nostalgic flavor of Goetze's caramel and cream, while our Strawberry Cream Milkshake will have customers wishing it was already summer," said Ryan Sheetz, VP, Marketing & Brand, Sheetz. You can find Sheetz in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and North Carolina. The family-owned convenience store chain is known for its extensive menu of “made to order” food that includes sandwiches, burgers, pizza, and all-day breakfast. Customers can order through an app or via touchscreen kiosks inside the store. The store has a large cult following in the region and has even played host to a wedding or two.
