You could be out $140 if this package arrives at your door.
There's nothing better when you order something online than the moment the box finally ships and is delivered to your door step. However, when you find a package at your door and realize you didn't order anything, you begin to wonder if someone sent you a surprise -- or if maybe it was delivered to the wrong house. One Stetson Hills, Colorado, resident recently received an unexpected package, but it wasn't a happy surprise -- instead, it was a complete scam.
Like an honest person, she took the box back to the postal service and marked it "return to sender." However, three months later, she received a notice from a collections agency saying that she owed $140 for not returning the package fast enough. The Colorado Springs Police Department is alerting all Coloradans to be aware of this scam as it has been happening nationwide.
TRS Limited LLC, the sender of the package, has hit homes in Georgia, California, Washington, Tennessee, Maine, Florida, and New York. It is nearly impossible to find this company on the Better Business Bureau website, however, the collections agencies appear as real companies, hence their ability to trick the receivers of the package.
"Just like many others, I have received a letter from CCB Credit Services Inc. saying they are collecting $139.97 on behalf of TRS LIMITED LLC," someone from Seattle wrote on Ripoff.
If you receive any packages you weren't expecting, please call your local police department immediately.
