Beulah Hill wildfire still burning, many evacuated seeking shelter

  A large fire spread in Beulah area in Pueblo yesterday starting around 1 pm. The fire spread close 3,000 acres and caused several evacuations including many residences and a few schools. Fortunately, the fire is no longer damaging buildings. Unfortunately, the fire is still spreading, burning in two directions along Highway 78.  It has been reported that the fire is "0% contained," with Douglas County's fire department headded in to assist. Due to high winds Monday, air support had to hold off. Officials are hopeful the wind will die down today to control the wild fire. Residents in the Beulah Valley are being advised to evacuate the area, as per Pueblo County Sheriff Kirk M. Taylor. Fire Beulah Hills residents are being advised to evacuate the area, and many areas are under manditory evacuation per Pueblo County Sheriff Kirk M. Taylors advisory. The American Red Cross has reported two shelters still open at Roncalli Middle School, and Southwest Motors Event Center. As of last night, many of those seeking shelter slept in their cars to be with their pets, which are not permitted inside the shelters. Pet owners can destress knowing Pueblo Animal Services will be providing pet sheltering at no cost for those who have been swept up in the fires damage. Larger animals can be housed at the Colorado State Fair grounds, simply enter through Gate 6. As of now nearly 2,000 people have ben evacuated and roads surrounding the area have been closed.
