Eldora Mountain Resort is getting an upgrade in the form of a new six passenger chairlift – replacing Cannonball and Challenge chairlifts.

Eldora Mountain Resort is a staple for any avid skier. Eldora strives to enhance the experience for the community, and with the new chairlift to debut for the 2017-2018 season, they're going above and beyond to hit that mark. They will install a high-speed and detachable six passenger chairlift at the base of the mountain (similar to the image above), which will replace the Cannonball and Challenge chairlifts (pictured below) that have been there since 1973 and 1977 respectively. [gallery size="large" columns="2" ids="12429,12428"] The chairlift will take skiers up the mountain in approximately four and a half minutes, with a 1,000 foot vertical rise that covers 3,829 feet in length and a capacity of 3,600 people per hour. It will grant skiers faster access to prime snow and powder. Construction on the lift will begin once Eldora closes after the winter season. Doppelmayr USA is heading the construction and installation, with help from Highlander Ski Lift Services & Construction INC. Plans also include moving the load station between the Indian Peaks and Timbers Lodge for easier access. According to Brent Tregaskis, the general manager at Eldora, the new chairlift comes on the heels of other improvements "such as installing Wi-Fi, replacing the domestic water supply, refurbishing lodge areas, updating restrooms and adding three new advanced runs."
