It's the simple things that can make all the difference.
American Vein & Vascular, a Colorado-based network of award-winning vein disease specialists, has announced the successful launch of its medical tray donation program. The program, which provides trays and syringes to benefit children in need is a creative move to recycle surplus medical supplies that would otherwise go to waste. While it seems simple, it is actually making quite a difference.
So far, American Vein has provided medical trays to various Colorado elementary schools, including Broadmoor Elementary, Prairie Heights, and the D12 Schools in Colorado Springs. They're also making their way to Haiti through the U.S.-based non-profit HaitiChildren, an organization that's dedicated to providing education and care to disabled, abandoned, and orphaned children throughout Haiti.

Thanks to American Vein’s generosity, we were able to repurpose medical trays as serving trays for our bi-monthly community gatherings that attract 500 people for church and lunch,” says Susie Krabacher, founder of HaitiChildren. “The trays have sped up the process of feeding so many people at the same time!”
And the impact of the trays doesn't stop there. Prairie Elementary in Colorado Springs has reported that they are further repurposing the trays for arts and crafts projects. So after two rounds of donations, American Vein & Vascular is continuing to save trays until a third donation is requested.
Like a cardboard box, something as simple as a tray can have a huge impact, and American Vein plans to continue their efforts.
We are grateful for this opportunity to give back to the community,” says Erin Gibbs, co-founder and owner of American Vein & Vascular Institute. “Our tray donation program is a great way to repurpose medical materials and give them new life as educational resources. We are proud of the results thus far, and plan to keep this going.”
