Fairfax County Police are once again providing the public with notice that they will be conducting a DUI checkpoint this Saturday, September 9, in West Springfield.

The DUI checkpoint will be staged somewhere in West Springfield District and is expected to run from 10 p.m. to midnight. Last week, police set up sobriety checkpoints in and around Fairfax City. Like usual, Fairfax Police is not disclosing where exactly in the West Springfield District the sobriety checkpoint will be held. Chances are, however, that it will be held on one of the major roads. Their warning is simply a reminder that they will be enforcing the drunk driving statutes. So, if you have a few drinks, call an Uber. The West Springfield District comprises land west of I-495 and I-195, generally between Braddock Road in the north and the Occuquan River to the south. You can take a look at the map of the district above. As always, we aren't telling you about this DUI checkpoint to help you get away with drunk driving. This is so that you can plan your travel accordingly and not get bogged down in the traffic. But if you are going to drink this weekend, please do so responsibly and give someone else your keys. Either rope one of your friends in to be your designated driver or take a crowbar to your wallet and spend a few bucks on an Uber or Lyft to make sure you get home safe.
