What do a farting zebra and face-planting lion cub have in common? They're finalists in the 2022 Comedy Wildlife Photo Awards.

Nature is beautiful. But it's also quite hilarious. And nothing displays that silliness better than the 40 finalists of the 2022 Comedy Wildlife Photo Awards. From a farting zebra to a "talk to the fin" penguin, these photos from around the world have us laughing.

Co-founded in 2015 by professional photographers Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam, the Wildlife Comedy Photo Awards have been showcasing the world's best and most hilarious wildlife moments captured on camera. Every year, the competition supports an organization—and this year, it's the Whitley Fund for Nature.

"With so much going on in the world, we could all use a bumper dose of fun and laughter and this year's finalists have definitely delivered that," said Sullam.

Now, you're probably wondering, how does one vote to determine the funniest image from the group of finalists? You can do so at comedywildlifephoto.com until November 27. Then, on December 8, the category and overall winners will be announced.

You can view the full 40 finalists on the competition's website, but we'll share a few of our favorites below:
