Former Ravens wide receiver, two-time Pro-Bowler and radio host Derrick Mason was charged with Felony Assault and Vandalism on Monday, October 30.
Derrick Mason, who was the Baltimore Raven’s all-time leading receiver between 2005 and 2010, was arrested and charged with Domestic Felony Assault and Vandalism on Monday following an altercation with his girlfriend. Police reported that a 40-year-old woman, whom Mason had been dating since last year, was assaulted by him. The woman said that Mason grabbed her by the neck and punched her in the stomach after she told him that she was breaking up with him. The woman had bruising on her arm, red marks and scratches on her hands and neck, and that Mason broke a hole in the woman’s front door. Mason left the scene when the woman called the police after which a bench warrant was issued. As soon as Mason heard of the warrant, he promptly turned himself in. After spending the night in jail, Mason was released on $12,500 bond and is due back in court on Monday, November 6.
Derrick Mason is currently a co-host of a sports radio talk show for Nashville radio station 102.5 "The Game." Before being a radio host, he played for 15 seasons as a wide receiver in the NFL between the Tennessee Oilers/Titans, the New York Jets, the Houston Texans, and the Baltimore Ravens. While Mason has played for four different NFL teams, the wide receiver retired in 2012 as a Raven.
Mason, a pro-bowl selection in 2000 and 2003, set more than a dozen franchise and league records, including most kick return yards in a postseason, 10,000 receiving yards, and 5,000 return yards in a single season. He also set Ravens’ franchise records for most career receptions, most receptions in a single season, most seasons with 1,000 receiving yards, and most career receiving yards.
