Kick Off the Hi, How Are You Project’s Happy Habit-A-Thon (Jan. 22)
In an effort to spark conversations regarding mental health and wellness, the fourth annual Hi, How Are You Day is set to start this Friday in honor of what would have been local musician Daniel Johnston’s 60th birthday. (Johnston, famous for his simple yet significant lyrics, openly struggled with mental illness for most of his adult life.) After registering for the virtual event , participants will receive a “Habit-A-Thon” bingo card, which will encourage them to participate in as many healthy habits as possible. To show their support during the 10-day event, local buildings, such as Austin City Hall, will be lighting up in green, the official color for mental health awareness.
Peruse Local Goods at the Ramblin’ Rose Roundup (Jan. 23)
Sagebrush, a relatively new music venue on South Congress, will be hosting the Ramblin’ Rose Roundup Saturday afternoon, featuring numerous local vendors (including Babe AF Beauty, Future Vagabound, and Feral Kinds) and a live performance by Paige and the Boys. As always, be sure to mask up.
Cheer on the Fight at The Warehouse Billiard Bar (Jan. 23)
During UFC 257, champions Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier will go against each other in a memorable fight that you won’t want to miss. Wondering where to see it? Take a Haunted Tour with Pioneer Farms (Jan. 23)
One of the most active spirit areas in Texas, Pioneer Farms is offering an exclusive nighttime ghost tour with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. The tours, where ghost sightings and strange voices are common, are accompanied with a Pioneer Farm spirit expert. Tickets start at $30.
Practice Yoga and Learn About Wine in a Vineyard (Jan. 24)
Calling all winos and yogis alike: This Sunday, Vino Vinyasa and Fall Creek Vineyards will be hosting their Vineyard Vinyasa starting at 1 p.m., which will feature a combination of fun wine facts and soothing yoga poses. The class will end with a tasting of two Fall Creek wines, a red and a rosé, allowing guests to put to use the knowledge they gained and encourage mindfulness.
Make Drinks Like a Pro with The Roosevelt Room (Jan. 24)
Become the next great bartender with a two-hour introductory course on cocktail-making led by The Roosevelt Room’s very own bar staff.
