Glenwood Hot Springs Resort will look fairly different come next summer, with the addition of an Adventure River and more.

It's out with the old and in with the new! Glenwood Hot Springs, a 130-year-old resort, is getting with the times and undergoing some major renovations that'll give it a more updated and modern look. This overhaul is the first that the treasured attraction has had in a decade.

The plans include new aquatic features and updating/replacing the existing waterslides, kiddie pool, and mini-golf course, as well as the addition of an Adventure River. The new attraction will have various twists and turns, giving visitors the feel of floating down a mountain creek.

"The new Adventure River is a custom-designed tube ride in keeping with the family-oriented Colorado experience," said Kjell Mitchell, Glenwood Hot Springs CEO and President, in a statement. "The attraction is a novelty among geothermal destinations in that it will offer visitors a high-quality theme park ride experience at a hot springs resort."

Along with the addition of a children's play area -- which will have mini water slides, shallow play areas, and a new kiddie pool -- there will be new restroom facilities on the west end of the pool area, an interactive fountain, and shaded areas for protection from the sun.

"We are always seeking ways to elevate the guest experience," Mitchell added. "This latest renovation will provide yet another opportunity for guests to have fun, smile and create lasting memories at the resort ... As we develop future phases, the east end will specialize in an adult-oriented environment that appeals to relaxation and rejuvenation."

Plans for the multi-million-dollar project are set to begin in January 2019, with a completion date estimated for July 2019.
