If you're the owner of a Honda Accord, then you may want to take some extra precautions. According to Coloradans Against Auto Theft, Honda Accords were stolen more than any other cars in Colorado in 2016.

Coloradans Against Auto Theft (CAAT) -- a group created to bring awareness to "statewide efforts in the prevention of auto theft -- released a report, stating that Honda Accords were stolen more than any other car in 2016. So, if you're driving a Honda Accord (or any of the other vehicles on the list below), then you may want to take some extra precautions and make sure your doors are securely locked and don't leave your car running while unattended. Even if your car type is not part of the report, continue to be cautious. Car theft can happen to anyone, no matter the type of car. honda accords The Colorado Bureau of Investigation notes that out of all the major crimes in 2016, auto theft saw the biggest increase of 22 percent. That's 19,430 stolen vehicles last year alone! And since 2011, auto thefts have skyrocketed 77.6 percent. Not only did the CAAT break down the types of cars, but they also looked into the cities where auto theft happened the most. Coming in at the No. 1 slot is Denver, closely followed by Colorado Springs, Aurora, Pueblo, and Lakewood. honda accords

  • Never leave your car running unattended. Not only is it risky, but it's also illegal.
  • Lock your doors every single time.
  • Park in well-lit areas.
  • If you've got a spare key, don't keep it in the car.
  • Place all valuable items in the trunk or hidden from view.
  • Report any suspicious activity to a non-emergency police line.
