Check your records! Motorists who took the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel on October 1, are being refunded their tolls due to the massive traffic jam.
For 17 hours, the lanes of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel were closed after a truck struck the tunnel's ceiling. Motorists were stranded all along the bridge span, and a toll relief fund has been set up for all of them. Those who used a credit card or E-ZPass have already been reimbursed to the tune of over $44,000, according to transportation officials.
Who is eligible for a refund?
All motorists who took the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel (in either direction) on October 1, 2018, between 10:30 a.m. and 11:59 p.m.

Drivers who used credit cards, debit cards, or E-ZPass should already see reimbursements for their tolls, dated October 6.
Drivers who paid cash can request a refund by calling the CBBT administrative office at (757) 331-2960. Make sure to have a copy of your receipt or a detailed description of your car including license plate number so that your claim can be validated. Phone requests must be made by October 31, 2018.
