Like Neighbors is a free online service organizing its 2nd Annual 5,000 Meals Program for military families across the mid-Atlantic states.

When tragedy strikes, our thoughts often go to cooking a meal to help out. Take that concept a step further and help provide meals for military families in need through an online donation! The goal of Like Neighbors is simple: to provide support through nourishment in partnership with Fisher House and the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors.

How can I help?

It's simple! Just go to the Like Neighbors website and choose your donation type: to Fisher House or the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS). Make your donation online before May 31, 2019, and know that your generous gift is providing chef-prepared meals daily, delivered by Galley Foods.

A $15 donation will provide for one individual meal, and the giving options go up from there. To date, fewer than 100 meals have been donated in this year's campaign.

About the Organizations

Like Neighbors is a wonderful online free service used to coordinate food and transportation giving campaigns. It was started when its founder Judy O'Connor assisted a long-distance friend whose child was battling cancer. She organized restaurant meal delivery across state lines, and the concept for Like Neighbors was established. Find out more about the Like Neighbors campaigns by going to their website.

Fisher House is a private-public foundation that provides "a home away from home" for military families who need to be near a military loved one who is hospitalized. Founded in 1990, Fisher House continues to provide support through shelter for military families all over the world. Visit the Fisher House website to learn more about the locations near you.

The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, or TAPS, was established in 1994 to lend support to military families who lose a service member who died as a result of his or her service in the U.S. Armed Forces. TAPS provides grief counseling, mentoring for children, and additional resources for grieving family members all over the world. Learn more about TAPS programs on their website or Facebook page.
