Todd and Kim Robertson, of Steamboat Springs, woke up to find their doughnut delivery car's back bumper completely ripped off. The suspect? A bear.

Apparently, the enticing aroma of doughnuts was too much for one bear in Steamboat Springs. On Monday, May 22, a bear attempted to break into a doughnut delivery car and ended up breaking off the back bumper. Todd and Kim Robertson own Moose Watch Café in downtown Steamboat. They use their Ford Focus to deliver doughnuts around town. Kim told Steamboat Today that the vehicle always smells of doughnuts, regardless of whether there aren't any in there. At the time of the attempted theft, there were no doughnuts in the vehicle, but the leftover smell seemed to have attracted the bear. How do they know it was a bear? A paw print was left on the car at the scene of the crime. steamboat springs
Police officer John McCartin took the case and said, as he stood outside the damaged vehicle, that the smell of doughnuts was strong. He also jokingly said, "I guess if anyone is an expert about this, it's us." This type of activity is no surprise, especially since there's been an uptick in bear activity this year, primarily in Steamboat Springs. I can see how the bear was enticed by the doughnuts, because have you seen Moose Watch Café's doughnuts? If they smell as incredible as they look, then they're bound to taste just as delicious! Be aware and cautious, because Colorado bears are waking up from hibernation.
