The crew has some serious dance moves. 37 million people agree.

Norfolk Police Department is a force to be reckoned with.

Earlier this week, the department uploaded a video to Facebook, below, of its officers lip-syncing and dancing to Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' hit song "Uptown Funk." The video soon went viral and has now been viewed on Facebook more than 37 million times.

Cpl. William Pickering, a Norfolk Police Department spokesman, told the Virginian-Pilot they created the viral sensation after the Corinth department in Texas relased a lip-syncing video of Miley Cyrus' song "Party in the U.S.A." Corinth then challenged Norfolk, along with other police departments, to a lip-sync battle.

"It was like, 'All right, we know what we've got to do now,'" Pickering told the Pilot. In the days that followed, he and his colleagues developed some pretty slick choreography and rallied police officers and a few firefighters to participate, he said.

Filming took place during the force's lunchtime on Monday. Throughout the video, dozens of officers, as well as firefighters and other personnel are shown grooving through hallways, offices, and more. At one point, you can even find officers jamming out while cleaning their motorcycles.

"As you can see, we all had a great time filming the video, which we have to point out was done in one take!" the department said in a Facebook post.

Norfolk police wrapped up their battle by challenging Seattle Police Department, Norfolk Constabulary, Virginia Beach Police Department, and St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department to a lip-syncing showdown.

"We wanted to show the community our primary objective is to protect and serve the community, but we're not robots," Pickering told the Pilot. "We share a lot of the same interests the community has."
