Learn more about Ocean City's past with the help of these three special exhibits at the Life-Saving Station Museum!
Located at the end of the Boardwalk, near the Inlet, is the beloved Life-Saving Station Museum! This Ocean City treasure is a haven of history for the seaside city that tourists and locals love dearly. The museum explores the past and Ocean City's journey from a small resort town to the bustling vacation spot we know it as today. See how surfing has changed over time, check out the way the Boardwalk used to look way-back-when, feast your eyes on a collection of tools used by the Life-Saving Service on the Eastern Shore, and so much more! Here are three special exhibits they have going on right now!
"Native Americans: First Contact On Lower Delmarva"
Peel back the pages of history and look into how Native Americans lived on the Eastern Shore! You'll be able to trace the journey of the Native American life from their first encounter with the European settlers to the drastic changes that affected them afterward. And you'll be able to do this with the aid of prints, first-hand stories of these times, and more!
"Little Keepers Day Room/Play Room"
Pack up your little ones and keep them occupied with this interactive showcase! Your children will be kept busy by participating in life-saving-themed activities. They'll be able to sign in for duties, save a stuffed animal with a breeches buoy, look for shipwrecks, steer a ship, read a book or play a game as a "break," and play the Milton Bradley's "Life Savers" from 1905. When the day is done, your little lifesavers are sure to have enjoyed the day and learned something at the same time!
"Boardwalk Hotels and Businesses -- Online Exhibit"
Take a trip to days past without ever leaving your home with this cool, online display! You'll see the way the Boardwalk used to be through postcards. With this exhibit, you'll be able to check out the way the Atlantic Hotel looked in 1910, as well as see the original Colonial Hotel, Dolles, Harrison Hall, and more!
